About
Diet Lemon is the musical project of Philadelphia-based artist, producer, and songwriter Alexander Spagnolia. Blending indie rock, alternative pop, and experimental production, Diet Lemon transforms personal anxieties, relationships, and observations about modern life into songs that are equal parts cathartic and catchy.
Following the release of the JUNO EP, Spagnolia returnes with the GONE EP, a darker and more guitar-driven collection that expands the project's sound into grungier territory while retaining the melodic instincts that first connected with listeners through songs like "melt." Across the EP, distorted guitars, unconventional vocal effects, and anthemic choruses provide the backdrop for themes of frustration, uncertainty, heartbreak, and self-reflection. Whether confronting the pressures of adulthood, questioning broken promises, or exploring the emotional chaos of love, Diet Lemon balances sharp lyricism with an unmistakable sense of humor and self-awareness.
Originally known as a guitarist and producer with indie outfit Mega Mango, Spagnolia handles every aspect of the Diet Lemon project himself, from writing and production to engineering and performance. The result is a sound that feels both meticulously crafted and deeply personal, drawing influence from modern indie rock while refusing to stay confined to any single genre.
At its core, Diet Lemon exists for those caught somewhere between who they were and who they hope to become. Through explosive guitars, bittersweet melodies, and brutally honest storytelling, the project captures the uncertainty of growing up in a world that rarely delivers on its promises while finding moments of connection, humor, and hope along the way.
